Journeying
is a powerful way of finding answers and insights to problems to help one's self or others. Using a repetitive drumbeat, the journeyer enters an alteres state of consciousness, similar to a meditative state. This enables the journeyer to enter the Spirit Worlds to meet with Spirit Teachers, helpers and Nature Spirits who guide and advise and enabl profound healings and insights.
Soul & Power Retrievals There are two ways to lose energy and prevent us standing completely in our personal power: one is to lose part of one's self and the other is to carry intruding energy. Losing a part of ourselves is called Soul Loss in shamanic terms, and this happens when we have been traumatized either mentally, physically, emotionally or spiritually.
When we have been traumatized, a fragment of our vital nature (soul) escapes from the event, enabling us to go into "survival mode". We feel numb or even amnesic and this shields us from the full impact of the pain. This is a natural and effective means of survival and usually the soul fragments return spontaneously. Sometimes, though, the soul fragment gets lost or stuck and this can leave us feeling unwell.
Symptoms of Soul Loss
Do you feel:
"Spaced out"
Not really present
Feel like an observer in your life
Disconnected, numb, disorientated or no energy
Not in your body
Like you have lost something
You drink alcohol, eat, take drugs or gamble to excess
Don't know what it is you have lost
Feel empty inside
You can't remember large parts of your childhood
Feel like you are searching
Feel unwell or always ill with something
Have an illness
Depressed
Find yourself in recurring relationship patterns
Have the same dream over and over
If a significant number of the above apply to you, then you have probably experienced soul loss. Soul Retrieval involves the shamanic practitioner journeying to the Spirit Worlds to search for and track the lost soul part and to restore it. On restoration, many people feel immediate benefits, some quite physical, as well as being more able to work on the issues brought up over the coming weeks. The soul parts that are returned are not damaged in any way, they are pure life force and they left in order to keep safe. Following a soul retrieval, many people report feeling the feelings that were caused by the traumatic event. This is why it is vital that you have lots of loving supportive people around you when you have a soul retrieval.
Power retrievals work in a similar way and can restore vitality, energy and can also be a source of guidance and support.
Extraction Medicine
When we are not living in balance and wholeness, we are open to intrusions of energy - especially when we have experienced soul loss. The intruding energy may be an illness, or an energetic imprint of an event that has happened to us causing us to feel unwell, lacking in vitality or even ill. Extraction is a way of removing intrusions using feathers, stones or other energy, and promotes balance and healing.
Ceremony & Ritual
are simple ways of bringing new knowledge and healing into your life. By marking important events in your life's journey, you can powerfully reinforce your new way of being your true self. A simple ceremony such as lighting a candle in a sacred manner can be tremendously effective.
Working with the Dead and Bereaved
When someone dies, they may be unable to move on into the Spirit World. Shamanism offers methods of enabling them to proceed to their appropriate place. This often has the additional benefit of empowering the loved ones left ebhind to work through their grief more healthily and effectively.
Counselling
is an important part of a shamanic healing and although ancient shamans had no concept of this as a profession in itself, they were astute observers and had a profound understanding of illness, dis-ease and human nature.
Counselling weaves shamanic healing together and augments a deeper connection and understanding. It is supportive and gentle and enables you to connect the insights and teachings you will be shown on your own healing journey.
I hope you find this helpful in answering some of your questions, if it brings any other questions to mind please ask, as without asking how do we learn.
