Hi everyone
I'm in the kitchen again, but this time I would like to show you the new crystal I bought at the weekend. I was instantly drawn to it and when I picked it up I got a fuzzy feeling all over and then the image of a mans' face appeared in the crystal. So that was good enough for me I knew I had to take it home with me, thankfully it was reasonably priced - I would have sulked all night if I hadn't had enough money with me to buy it.
I wanted to let you all see it as I would like some more information on why I was drawn to it and what I should use it for. I have managed to learn so far that it is a Golden Calcite and is for the Crown chakra and promotes spontinaity. Also it is good for meditation and learning. Now as I am relatively new to crystals and everything spiritual I think that this could be the reason I was drawn to the it. Perhaps the experts out there can throw some more light on the subject for me. Any feedback would be most welcome.
I do not have a name for the crystal yet but it is a male crystal and once I have cleansed it and welcomed it to work with me I know the name will be given. Now I can see many images when I look into the crystal and I appreciate that a web cam piccie is not the best format, but if you can see anything would you let me know, interested to hear your views. thanks everyone

Cactus Flower in the first pic i see a thoughtful looking elderly lady..
in the second I see a man's face close up - quite long with sunken eyes.

This feels like a good crystal to work with angelic energies - the colour alone is good for this and it "feels" like an abundance giver of a stone to me.
(mental note - must get one meself!)

Wow the first picture i was immediately drawn the left hand side and there are two faces there the rop one its his forhead and eyes then somehting seperates them and the one below its his nose mouth and chin.

The second picture i was immediately drawn to the centre where i could see the shadow of a man standing with his legs slightly apart.

WOW while looking at the first one i kept being drawn to the left had side and in the end stopped trying to go against the feeling and looked, as soon as i relaxed i could see the two faces.

Lovely piece i take it youve looked up what others feel it would help with?

When I looked at the first picture I too was drawn to the top left. The face I saw gave me an Oriental feeling.

The second picture, well just to be different, the face I saw reminded me of a Grizzley Bear!

I think this crystal will be a great friend for you. I feel it will help you to step out your comfort zone and go for things you'd never have imagined possible.

Thank you very much Ra-Chi, Sulis and Lionessgsy for your answers to my post. I felt as soon as I saw the calcite that it would be special for me. I find it a very inspiring crystal, the colour alone gives me a very warm feeling as it is golden and yellow and amber all at the same time. I have only shown you one aspect of the crystal in this picture as when you turn it there are many more images to see. Like all crystals it has 4 quatrines, and when you handle crystals regularly you get to know where the quatrines are and when you rotate the ball in your hand and go through the quatrines the images change drastically. I could spend hours just sitting with the calcite and enjoying the energy that it generates. I hope that with time I will find out exactly what I am to use it for - I will be guided by the images which come when I sit with it but I already think that I have been introduced to the calcite to further my learning on a spiritual level - so upwards and onwards.

I've never seen anything in a crystal before but I see many images in the first pic!..I was immediately drawn to the left and very clearly see the side profile of a man in what appears to be an officers uniform of some sort with his hand on his chest..Top left I also see the head and chest of what I think is again a male.. Couldn't see anything in pic 2 for a while but then saw the side profile of a male with a beard and moustache at the top

Very interesting crystals Cactus Flower! How large are they? I am very surprised that they are golden calcite. I thought calcites were more opaque, mine are! They seem to be more transparent, like of the quartz family, like clear quartz or smoky quartz.. but I'm no expert.. The one on the right gives the impression of having more energy, maybe it's the colour or the light, while the one on the left seems to have a more calmer energy, like a water kind of energy. Of course it's very difficult to know for sure without having them in my hand!
I'm sure they are very good crystals for you to work with. Enjoy them!

Hi Moonstone, the pictures are two aspects of the same crystal. Like you I thought that I was looking at a smokey quartz at first because of the light it was displayed in but when I checked with the seller, who is an expert in crystals, I was told that it was in fact a golden calcite. The crystal is the same size as a tennis ball and fits neatly into the palm of my hand when i work with it. The calcite is not as opaque as yours I think because it is a male crystal, the clearer ones are female you see. Thanks for your interest. How do you use your crystals Moonstone? I'd be interested to hear back from you.

HI Cactus Flower, I am not an expert when it comes to using crystals. I mostly carry them in my pockets when I know that some would be good for me at the time. For instance, I've been having a bad cold for the past week, so I carry a fluorite egg because I've read that it strengthens the immune system. Although you never know.. the fluorite has been in my pocket for a week and I still have this cold! LOL Maybe my crystal healing teacher was right, she said you have to meditate with them and dedicate each crystal for a particular purpose. The trouble is that I have LOTS of crystals. I've been collecting them for a long time and my house is full of them, so I could never find the time to meditate with each one!
I didn't know calcite could be male and female, that's interesting. The only ones I've heard of being male and female are boji stones. I have a pair of Boji stones, the male one goes in your left hand and the female in your right hand (if you are right handed). These are amongst my favorite crystals, they are always by my bedside and sometimes I fall sleep with them in my hands, if I need them. I never go away without my boji stones, even if it's for a couple of days. Another one I never go away without is my citrine. It's very good if you have indigestion if you put it on your solar plexus, it always works for me, anyway. Another favorite of mine is selenite, they are incredible, you can feel the energy in your hands (just like with the boji stones) and they are calming at the same time, very good for the nerves. Unfortunately selenite isn't very hard and it breaks easily, so I now have numerous of pieces of selenite..

Hi Moonstone, I am no expert either, but I have had a very good teacher in the past when I first started to become interested in crystals. I do not have many in the house but what I do have I work with regularly. I tend to have larger crystals and so I cant really carry them around with me as my pockets would be bulging, and I always want to handle them when I have them out so I might get a few odd looks walking around with my hands in my pockets all day stroking them!
As to the male and female aspects - this is what I was advised when dedicating my first clear quartz crystal ball. I think that like most things associated with spiritualism crystals can be asexual; neither male or female; but it is the energy that you tap into when using them that probably decides whether they are prodominantly male or female pieces. During the dedication of a crystal you can ask what its' name is and I have found that all my crystals have names corresponding with what I thought their 'gender' was. My clear quartz which I can see through quite easily is Mhairi; my amethyst which is very cloudy and full of structures is Robbie; and my calcite which again is full of structure is called Marcus. Now to anyone who doesn't work a lot with crystals the fact that I have names for all my larger pieces might sound a bitty strange, but I don't feel that way as many significant spiritual landmarks have names, so why should my little crystals be any different, they are just as significant to me but on a smaller scale dimensionally. I know you are concerned that because of the amount of crystals you have accumulated that you might never get around to dedicating all of them and working with them to their full extent, but like I have said before, the ceremony doesn't have to be difficult or long winded. You are probably aware of how to dedicate a crystal to work with it so choose about 6-12 smaller crystals at a time and sit with them, holding each in your hand while you tell spirit how you wish to use it. You will be surprisd how quickly you will manage to dedicate all the crystals you have. Then you will be able to work with them more effectively and you will get great satisfaction from using them.

Hi Cactus Flower, I may follow your advice and work with a few crystals at a time. I did learn how to dedicate a crystal, but I will have to find my old notes. I did that crystal course a long time ago, and I have forgotten most of it..
Since then what I have been doing is reading in books the properties of any new crystals I get, and use my intuition. If they tell you that a crystal is good for such and such thing, but it doesn't work for me, I leave it. It is obviously not meant for me to work with the crystal in that way.. Which brings me to a similar question I asked in another thread. Are these books on crystal healing trustworthy? Who writes these books, anyway? When they tell you that you should work with a crystal for a particular purpose (and some books go in great detail as to the benefits that you can get physically, emotionally, mentally or spiritually with that particular crystal) are you supposed to take it literally? Is it the way it works for the writer of the book or does it apply to anybody? If it's only a personal experience, that can change from person to person, why write these books in the first place? I'm always very puzzled about this!... And it only seems to happen with crystal healing. You don't read in an aromatherapy book, for instance, that lavender oil is calming and relaxing, only to find out that you have to dedicate it for that purpose first, because otherwise it can in fact make you nervous!.. LOLOL
Can you or anyone please clarify this for me? I sometimes get so confused that I feel like giving up on the whole idea of crystal healing.. not on crystals, of course. I've been collecting them since I was very young and they are like old friends to me.

Dear Moonstone, I will ask a very good friend to give you some guidance as I dont feel nearly qualified enough to say yeh or nay. I have only been working with crystals for a year now and I dont have nearly as many as you. I feel that you are right to go on your instincts but that what you need to do is to dedicate each crystal to what you feel you have been drawn to it for. The books are good however, Judy Hall is a great writer and I found her books on crystals to be spot on for the main. But yes I think the way that you might work with a certain crystal will definately be totally different from anyone else because you are unique, you have your own energy signature, and as crytals have their own as well you will surely be more compatible to some than others. This would be true for everyone else I imagine. There are bound to be 'variations on a theme' when many people work with the same crystal, just as everyone experiences spirit in a different way - would be a boring old world if we were all the same wouldn't it.

CF has asked me to step in here and say something here, , and I have to say that she has been answering your questions with great knowledge.

You say you are thinking of giving up on the whole idea of crystal healing, I would perhaps ask you to think again for if you feel you are drawn to crystals then you should go by your own instinct, as CF so rightly said you are unique as we all are and as I always say to those whom I teach any form of healing or mediumship to, always remember that one thing, and also that when you read something in a book what you are reading in the authors' opinion, now it may not be your opinion and that is what you have to make up your mind on.

I have a saying (me and my sayings lol), ask ten mediums the same question on development and you will most probably get ten different answers, as we are all different and it would be so boring if we were all the same.

I know that when I go to do healing on someone and spirit say I have to use a certain crystal, and here I must clarify I do not profess to be a crystal healer I simply do as spirit wish, this has happened since I started healing many, many years ago, I have always trusted their judgement on this and have used the crystal, and found that when people have got back to me it has worked for them, you see to me it is all about trust, now I may find that if I were to read a book written by someone that perhaps they might not recommend that particular crystal, and then my little earthly brain would start to go into confusion by thinking well maybe that is not right and what I am then doing is feeding this confusion energy and saying I do not trust spirit, which for me and anyone who knows me will tell you I trust them implicitly, no questions, on that score :notworthy:

So Moonstone, I hope I haven't bored you as I do tend to ramble once I start, but in my own humble opinion go with what feels good for you and if in doubt chuck it out, yes by all means read books but do not think that just because someone has written a book on a certain subject that it is the whole truth for you, it may be a part of it but not the whole of it.

Thank you Cactus Flower and laughingblossom for taking the trouble to explain. I can see that the main thing is trust, both in spirit and in your intuition. I will not give up on crystal healing just yet!.. I guess what happens is that I am a bit lazy, and I like the idea of consulting the Crystal Bible or any other book on crystal healing, and voila! finding the immediate answer to any problem, rather than going through the long process of tuning into the crystal and finding out what it can do for me.. One thing I find with crystal healing, unlike other alternative therapies, is that the energies are sometimes too subtle, and you cannot see an immediate answer. Impatience on my part, I guess..
Anyway, thanks again for your help in clarifying this for me.

Right I may be going over what others have said but hey ho!!

I work with crystals a lot..and used to sell them....ALL crystals are different..and I used to make sure the right crystal went to the right person..for that I used my intuition if you want..and if it didnt *feel* right then I would not sell them it! I also always used to cleanse and charge them with Reiki too..

You have to sit and hold them until they are used to you..I could get out what I thought was the *right* crystals to go with the treatment / client I was working with ..only to find I would have to go to my cabinet and get something different out...so although books and teachers are good there will always be an element of conflicting information and the only real way is to work with them and TRUST your own instincts / intuition!!

Thank you Great Bear. I will try to work with my crystals (one at a time!) and see what I can get. Last night I was meditating with one of my amethyst crystals and I was surprised of what I got. I always thought that amethyst was associated with the crown chakra, and yet I got this image of putting it directly on my throat (go figure!..) So I did that while I was lying in bed. Maybe it's because after my cold I've got this persistent dry cough that keeps me awake at night. Maybe another time I'll work with it in a different way..

I'm surprised that you won't sell your crystals unless they feel right. Every other crystal seller I've come across is very happy to sell me everything! LOL I get many of my crystals from the Rock & Gem shows. They are fantastic places, full of rocks and crystals of every kind, and you can feel the energy, but of course they are there for the business of selling..

Hiya Moonstone..I'm late as usual..

I've been using crystals intuitively for years, I do have a crystal bible by Judy Hall but I mainly use it for identifying a crystal rather than relying on it to tell me what each crystal can do. I've acquired crystal knowledge more by accident than by intent and in recent years became attuned to ethereal crystal energies too, which helps immensely when I send distant healing, and Reiki especially.

I just go with the flow, and I'm not surprised that amethyst worked well for you even if you weren't consciously aware of what it was suposed to do..amethyst is one of the great all round healers, it is the lavender of the crystal world and will always aid the healing process.

As has been said here many times already ..I agree - If a crystal feels right for a purpose then go with it!

HI Ra-Chi, It's interesting what you say about ethereal crystals. I must admit I never heard about ethereal crystals before I came to this board, and didn't know anything about them. I still don't! so I have been keeping busy reading the old posts. I must confess I am a bit confused about them.. They are not “real” crystals as those found on the earth, are they? So why on the link Ethreal Crystals, Northern Lights Healing Shop does it give you a list of real crystals at the end?
