Proverbs1312
Hello Spirithealer and everyone.

I'm just another seeker after truth in any place I can find. Solomon has been called the wisest person who ever walked this planet. Therefore I often turn to his writings for some illumination on life's mysteries.

In Proverbs 13:12, the message is that we must have hope - the confident belief that a specific goal or vision will be accomplished within a set time. Hope deferred makes the heart sick. We put off our own dreams, and we inadvertently or purposely help to defer others dreams.

Conversely, desire (or goals or dreams) fulfilled becomes a tree of life, for ourselves and for others around us. This is universal law.

Proverbs and Ecclesiastes (Solomon's writings) are full of simple and powerful truths. I'll commentate on a few others if you so wish.

I believe it's our imperative to seek out understanding, wherefrom my study of Solomon comes.

Solomon was the son of David, and when the time came near for him to assume the throne, he was greatly fearful and asked God for strength and the wisdom to judge national issues correctly and thereby benefit the good and defeat the bad.

Because Solomon asked for nothing but wisdom, God endowed upon him not only more wisdom than anyone before or after, but also amazing material wealth, which he used to enrich the lives of his people. As a result, he was arguably the best-loved and most respected leader a nation has ever had. His death was truly mourned.

As with a lot of the books of the Old Testament, much has been lost or corrupted through translation. But in this simple but powerful proverb, Solomon teaches us that our visions are the engine of our lives, and hope is the fuel.

The best leaders understand this, along with the wisdom of Solomon's other writings.

Leading on from this, it's perhaps worth considering the following questions:

Which of your hopes have you deferred?

Whose other hopes have you deferred, and is it time to instil hope in those people again?

I to have a proverb for you 22:1

Hello Spiritof52 and thank you for that reminder.

Proverbs 29:18

"Where there is no vision, the people perish."

For those of you familiar with South Pacific: "You've got to have a dream, if you don't have a dream, how you gonna make a dream come true?"

Each of the important areas of your life - for example (possibly), family, spouse, career, friendships, aspirations - should have dreams attached to them. For each dream, you should have goals, and those goals should have the steps you need to take to achieve them.

Try taking just one of those initial steps and see what happens! And remember, where there is no dream, something dies in us.

great post Proverbs,

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Are dreams the same as Hope? And is this the same as belief or faith? hope, belief and faith were just words that I was spoonfed in the Church during my childhood and I'm not really sure i understand what they mean.
maybe it's all semantics, but it is something that confuses me. I sense that if I can clear up the logical understanding I can get on with things a little more effectively!

You talk about dreams, goals and steps.
In the past I have found NLP to be very helpful in implementing changes - it might help others on here too. smile.gif NLP helps you to break every step of your goal down into a tiny, MANAGEABLE one. it also trains you to recognise your progress; something we often forget to give ourselves credit for...........

I agree scompletely that without dreams something dies within us. I also rather suspect it *is* the cause of physical death in many of the elderly - nothing left to live for or dream of........
