do any of you have alters or shrines and what do u use and where do u place them, do u have any statues or is it a place to relaxe,
I have a small area in the corner of my study - it's a piece of plywood that has curved edge and is covered with an old red velvet dress that I cut up!
Mine is about 3 inches off the floor, as I like sitting on the floor.
I feel the most important thing about an altar is that you have what *you* feel drawn to. There is no right or wrong here, there is nothing you *should* have and also, don't make up your mind to just go and do it in one go - My altar evolves all the time depending on where I am at in my life.
At the moment I have a small piece of wood with several candles on it which I light whenever I sit next to the altar. Actually, candles feature quite heavily - there are around 10 on there and I light different ones at different times. I have a photo of me with my Grandmother and some images that I fell in love with on various postcards - flowers, trees, wise women etc.
Some pinecones, feathers etc that I collected when pregnant and offereings that my daughter keeps giving me. A couple of crystals and a statue of a shepherd!
There is no reason behind anything on there other than they are special to me in one way or another.
Within easy reach I have some inspirational reading or a deck of angel or faery cards and some paper and a pen.
I don't always do anything specific at my altar; I just like to sit there and 'be'
Have fun and be creative; you'll know what is right for you
Namaste
