does anyone know how or if its even possible to make a light spray of a flower or something. Im not explaining this very well am i

if say i had a flower or herbs that smell gorgeous is there anyway of capturing that smell

For a herb, you can simply make an infusion (that's a posh word for a cup of tea!). If you are using leaves or flowers, you just take a generous handful of them and pour over boiling water - cover the mix and leave it to cool. Strain and store.

If you are using something woody - stems, twigs etc you would put them in a saucepan with enough water to cover, bring to the boil, cover and simmer for 20 minutes. Cool and strain.

I do this with large handsful of sage and thyme to use as a spray on kitchen surfaces.

I've never tried with flowers just to capture the scent - what do you have in mind?

What you can do is make an infused oil - buy a cheap, unscented oil such as grapeseed oil, decant a little into a jar ( a babyfood jar size is ideal) and pack it full with your herb or flower - it's important to shove as much of the herbs / flowers as you can to leave as little air as possible.
Leave it for a couple of weeks in a sunny place and shake daily. After two weeks, strain the mix and replenish with fresh herb / flower and repeat for another two weeks. Strain and store. Voila - an infused oil which is heavenly for massages.

Oh i love the infused oil idea. Its funny we infuse olive oil with chilli/garlic/herbs to eat yet i had n't thought about making oils for the skin myself.
