Forgive me if it has already been covered but could someone explain to me what is involved in learning Reiki and how it is done please (i.e attunements etc) in order to be able to become a practitioner.

I have been sitting on the fence somewhat since joining NLH but am becoming more and more intrigued as to what is involved.

I had a few treatments before I decieded to become attuned to Reiki
I asked my Master what I needed to know before I did it
I was told nothing, don't read anything and don't try to find out
Come in with an open mind and see what happens

And that's what I suggest
Go in with a clear head with no thoughts about what is to come
It really is a great way to do it
Everything will be a suprise
Having a treatment before does help you make up your mind

Do I take it that you have to go to classes to do the R1 & R2 or is it done distance - just wondering if I need to find a Reiki master to help me with this ?

All I know is crystals and spiritual healing so forgive me being naive in all this

I had no classes just went in for the day came out attuned with a load of literature.

I actually phoned my master to ask if she knew of any healing classes or meetings and it went from there, the answer to my question of course was no.

My friend in Texas goes to a colleague every Thursday where people can book to have Reiki by trainees, but i guess thats a bit far to go.

Thats my complete knowledge, until youve taken the plunge anyway.

ps you can use crystals with Reiki too so i guess your just advancing what your allready doing.

I went to see my Master
Arranged to be attuned to Reiki 1 on a certain date
Turned up on that date
Left the room five hours later a Reiki 1 attuned person
With a load of literature or it could be called a Reiki 1 manual

Hi Archangel,

I 'found' my Reiki Master on the internet when I searched 'Reiki Workshops in Edinburgh'. She held the course in her house and it was a 2 day thing.... 2 long days but I loved every minute of it!

The first day she explained everything and we did exercises with our hands, feeling energy, and we had our attunement by the end of the day, then told to do a self healing that evening.

The next day focused more on meditation and different breathing techniques. We then practised healings on the other students.

I'm going back to my Master at end of June for my Reiki 2 and would recommend it to anyone thinking about it.

Well sorry to say...but I reckons Reiki has got you now!!

I had a treatment from a friend that was R2 in it...and here I am now..

As for a Master...they will be there for you when you are ready....

Hands on or distant...that is your choice...they both work

What else

I find that when a student becomes attuened to Reiki, it tends to open allsorts or other doors as well..

As has been said...works wonderfully with the crystals!

Ohh and I agree with Hermie...
