Red Feather
Helloo to all.
Lithia or the Summer is coming up soon, and i wondered what anyone was planning to do for it.

heres a little bit of funky info for all of you that don't know.

Summer Solstice, the longest day and shortest night, is the season of oak leaves and roses, symbols of God and of Goddess are present at Beltane, and Midsummer, Beltane seems much more a Goddess festival; whereas Midsummer celebrates the God.
Midsummer rites are oftern dedicated to the crowning of the solar king and the dedication of his male energy to the service of the Goddess, her people and her land. Paradoxically, this time is both the height of the sun and the beggining of its decline. After the peak there is no where to go but down.
Midsummer is a good time for men to do magick stirthepot.gif to help them in their everyday lives and for both sexes to do magick to help them with worldly matters- careers, houses, money. These are all worldly but essential things we need for our material existance.

I'll be doing some candle magicks, burning some prairie rose incense and making the place pretty - then watching Most Haunted solstice live event on telly afterwards!

If its a nice day I will start early on and spend the day outside to celebrate properly.
Its funny, even as a child I always thought of the summer and winter solstices as special and felt like marking them in some way that was special, and that was way before I found the old path and realised their significance. A past life memory perhaps..
I do love the solstices most of all the sabbats and esbats, for me they are a time of out with the old and in with the new, I always seem to be going through changes at these times especially.

To help in preparations folks, you can easily and simply celebrate Litha in the following ways:

Burn incense or warm oils in a burner of Frankincense, Lemon, Rose, Wisteria, or Lavender.

Herbs to use in magicks if you plan to work any: Lavender, Camomile, Roses, Daisy or Lily (herbs or essential oils infused in the candle itself or herbs burned in the flame)

Wear or decorate with blue, green or yellow - or light candles of these colours.

Decorate the home with dried herbs, potpourri, seashells, summer flowers, or fruits.

Prepare a meal with fresh vegetables, and a dessert of summer fruits, washed down with ale or mead (or summer fruit juice if preferred)

Blessed be peeps!

How lovely a way to celebrate Ra chi. You know I may just do something to mark the occassion myself, have often thought about it but never known what was most appropriate.
